No! To Baram Dam (An Enlightened for Ignorance Minds) Posted: 11 Dec 2013 01:17 AM PST I against the Baram dam (and 11 more) because I'm convinced that God Whom I worship and know would against it too. Now, this is my stand on it, you don't have to agree about it. My conscious and conviction is clear that the dam will brings more disastrous than development; more destruction than prosperity for the people (but yes, of course, the irresponsible government officials will become richer); more diversities than unity. I against the Baram dam for these reasons! THINK BIG. START SMALL. GO DEEP. A New Sacrifice and Our Responds to God’s Grace and Mercy Posted: 10 Dec 2013 10:51 PM PST As time went by, the system of sacrifice was abused, and the prophets began to cry out for new sacrifice. Isaiah expresses it most clearly: "'What makes you think I want all your sacrifices?' says the LORD. 'I am sick of your burnt offerings of rams and the fat of fattened cattle. I get no pleasure from the blood of bulls and lambs and goats… Stop bringing me your meaningless gifts; the incense of your offerings disgusts me!... Wash yourselves and be clean! Get your sins out of my sight. Give up your evil ways. Learn to do good. Seek justice. Help the oppressed. Defend the cause of orphans. Fight for the rights of widows" (Isaiah 1:11-17, NLT).
The fourth song, Isaiah 52-53, describes the appalling suffering of the Servant who, though innocent, is treated as a sinner punished by God and condemned to die a shameful death. It shows that all this is the Servant's voluntary offering for sinners, whose sin and guilt He takes onto Himself. "He was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed" (53:5); "He bore the sins of many and interceded for rebels" (53:12). The song shows that, by a previously unimaginable act of power, God accepts the sacrifice of the Servant and brings about the salvation for many people. This song points to Jesus, the Suffering Servant. In fact all of the Old Testament sacrifices point in some way to Him. Now, today, it's time for us to turn our attention to Jesus Christ, because it is by the shedding of His blood that we are forgiven. And it is in the example of His life that we see the power of true forgiveness in action. No more the old system of sacrifice needed for the forgiveness of sins – not that it wasn't important back then, but it's no more valid – for Jesus have died on the cross and rose again as the living sacrifice to redeem us sinners back to Himself. In responds to God's grace and mercy, we ought to: "Give up your evil ways (Repent from our sins). Learn to do good (Be Christ disciples). Seek justice. Help the oppressed. Defend the cause of orphans. Fight for the rights of widows (Walk the faith)." No more animals or ceremonials sacrifice require for the forgiveness of sin. Jesus Christ "our High Priest offered himself to God as a single sacrifice for sins, good for all time" (Hebrew 10:12, NLT). This is His actions of grace and mercy. What are your actions of thanksgiving and faith? How to you celebrate this new ceremony for forgiveness and for an ongoing way of life in Christ? Do you repent from your sins? Do you follow Christ's commands and His examples? Do you love people, seek justice, help the oppressed, defend the cause of the defendless, fight for the rights of the voiceless? Do you walk the faith? Ask yourself. THINK BIG. START SMALL. GO DEEP. ![]() ![]() |
Posted: 09 Dec 2013 07:04 PM PST "Everything that is done in the world is done by hope" (Martin Luther) Proverbs 24:16 says, "No matter how often an honest man falls, he always get up again" (TEV). The first person to invent the wheel only discovered what God had already designed, for the Lord created things in circles. The stars and planets are round, they move in orbital circuits, and life, as a result, moves in cycles. Every one hundred years, we have a new century; every 24 hours we have a new day; every 60 minutes we have a new hour. God created the potential for new beginnings into the very design of our universe. And for good reason, every hero of Scripture needed new beginnings: Adam and Eve after they ate the forbidden fruit; Moses after he killed the Egyptian; David after his adulterous relationship; Elijah after an emotional breakdown in the desert; the disciples after Good Friday… And maybe you. In Christ, no matter how often an honest man falls, he always gets up again THINK BIG. START SMALL. GO DEEP. ![]() ![]() |
Be Missionary Because God is a Missionary Posted: 09 Dec 2013 08:04 AM PST "The Spirit of Christ is the spirit of missions, and the nearer we get to Him the more intensely missionary we must become" (Henry Martyn) ![]() The first message at the birth of Christ was a missionary message. "I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people" (Luke 2:10, NLT). The first prayer Christ taught was a missionary prayer. "May [Father's] Kingdom come soon" (Matthew 6:10). The first disciple, Andrew, was a missionary. "Andrew went to find… and told him, 'We have found the Messiah'" (John 1:41). The first message of the risen Lord was a missionary message. "'Don't cling to me… But go find my brothers and tell them, 'I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God'" (John 20:17). The first command of the risen Lord to His disciples was a missionary command. "[But] you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere… and to the end of the earth" (Acts 1:8). What more can I write to proof of God's concern for the unreached people? That we become mission-minded disciples as He is? The first apostolic sermon was a missionary sermon (see Acts 2:17-39). The greatest reason for Christian love was a missionary reason. "For God so loved the world…" (John 3:16). The first coming of Christ was a missionary work. "For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost" (Luke 19:10). The second coming of Christ is to be hastened by missionary work. "[The] Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it; and then the end will come" (Matthew 24:14). And the most famous of all – our Saviour's last wish on earth! His wish was a missionary wish: "I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age" (Matthew 28:18-20, NLT). The last wish of the departing Savior should be the first wish of His people. His last command should be our first concern. Therefore, rise up O people of God! Rise up church – evangelical churches! Rise up and go to the unreached people and tell them about the risen Christ! Be missionaries for the lost world to the unreached people. I can hear as if God is tell us: "Be missionary because I am a missionary" or listen to Jesus' words to His disciples: "As the Father has sent me, I am sending you" (John 20:21). Amen. "The Spirit of Christ is the spirit of missions, and the nearer we get to Him the more intensely missionary we must become" THINK BIG. START SMALL. GO DEEP. ![]() ![]() |
